JOHN R. GAREY: When a client calls me with a criminal matter, their life has been disrupted. They're entering an unknown area of the criminal legal justice system. They may have preconceived notions based on what they saw on TV, what they've heard from their friends, but because I am a small firm, I'm concerned with my clients as individuals. I have 15 years experience as a criminal prosecutor in Kent and Sussex Counties in Delaware, handling all types of criminal offenses. Because I was a criminal prosecutor in the Department of Justice, I have a good idea and a good knowledge base of how the state prosecutors will handle and prepare each criminal case. By knowing what the state will be seeking, I can keep the client informed and begin to prepare a defense from the initial consultation.
